Reiki

Reiki is an ancient healing practice that uses gentle hand placements, either on or just above the body, to bring balance and release energetic blockages. It is holistic and non-invasive, making it suitable for anyone of any age, and it can be used alongside other treatments.

The mind and body are deeply connected—tension and pain often arise from emotional stress or discomfort. Reiki works with both the physical and subtle energy bodies, encouraging flow, harmony, and activating the body’s natural ability to heal.

Sceptical? That’s completely natural. It’s important to think carefully about any therapy you choose to try. Before I began my Reiki journey, I couldn’t fully understand what it entailed either. Many people who arrive with questions or doubts leave surprised by how deeply relaxing and restorative the experience can be. Reiki has no contraindications, so it’s safe for everyone to try—all you need to do is lie down, close your eyes, and allow yourself to receive. After your session, we’ll take time to reflect on any thoughts, feelings, or sensations that arose.

Reiki sessions can be in person or remote, and vary in length. The structure is always the same: a short discussion at the start, the Reiki treatment itself, and then a longer conversation afterwards. For remote sessions, I’ll guide you in setting up a calm and comfortable space.

Please note that Reiki is not a replacement for medical care, but rather a complementary therapy that supports overall wellbeing.

If you have questions, please see the FAQ below—or feel free to reach out through the contact form.

What happens in a reiki session?

In the reiki room there maybe a scented candle burning and there will be relaxing music playing.

Before the session you will fill out a couple of forms, this can be done online (ideal) or in person. We will have a little introductory chat.

You will lie on the massage table and close your eyes. I will give you reiki. This entails me holding my hands on or above each chakra point, or a specific area of the body, for a number of minutes. On most occasions you will turn over and I repeat the process. There is never contact with intimate areas of the body.

After the treatment we will discuss the findings, feelings and sensations that came up. There maybe advice offered for you to continue on your wellness journey.

Do I need an ailment?

Although reiki is a healing form you don't need an injury or an ailment to benefit. You can simply use it as part of your wellness practice.

What does it feel like to receive reiki?

Reiki will feel different for each individual. Things one might feel are:

  • sensations of heat or cold
  • you may feel emotions come to the surface
  • pins and needles
  • gurgling in the tummy
  • colours might come to mind
  • you might have memories pop-up
  • involuntary movements/twitching hands
  • deep sleep

Feelings and sensations are different for everyone. It's really good to have an open mind, relax and let the reiki do its work.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing is perfect. You are always fully clothed for reiki, minus shoes. You will need to get on and off a massage couch, apart from that you will be lying down or seated.

Depending the season you may want a blanket, I always have one at hand.
